Having just completed a reading of Thirty Questions Regarding the History of Pre-Stockport, Ohio, by Gale Richard Walker, Ph.D., I thought it appropriate to give some feed back by one who had lived less than half his lifetime in Morgan County and none at all in Stockport. I found the 150-page hard cover book to be an excellent, very well-documented book. A surprise actually in a world where there is so much misinformation. It is a book I would recommend for Morgan County readers and those interested in the early development of our state.
I read the book from front to back, but in hindsight, believe that reading the appendices C through E first would have given me a better base to understand the overall period about which was being written. Please remember I am a transplant to this area! For the multigenerational Stockport and Morgan County people, I would recommend looking at the table of contents and selecting the questions you might have the greatest interest in.
The cost of this book is $55.00 at the historical society, but may also be obtained through Ingram, bookstores, on-line and at TurasPublishing.com: ISBN-13: 978-1-7361884-6-0.
